I’m really excited about a few things today.
#1- I have a little bit over a week left at my current job… Yes I gave my 2 weeks!! All so I have time to plan my wedding, photograph others weddings, attend/be a bridesmaid in a couple, get ready to move, work on various projects, as well as prepare my portfolio so I can find a new job in the LA area. (Where Nolan and I will be living when after we wed!)
#2- I’m stirring up ideas for my own re-brand/blog refresh. Its quite exciting/intimidating/overwhelming!
#3- The thing I’m MOST excited about right now is this:
If any of you are as big of fans as I am of Bri Emery’s blog Design Love Fest, then you probably saw THIS post she posted looking for an intern to help her out with her BLOGSHOP happening this weekend…  Well of course I emailed her and guess what??  I was picked!! I am beyooond excited for this opportunity to learn, help out and hang out with some awesome people. I’m spending the rest of the night getting ready for this little adventure… first figuring out what I’m going to wear… hmmm…

I had a super vivid dream last night that I was flying.  It was scary but really cool at the same time.  I flew over the ocean, I flew far away to meet old friends, I flew to secret places to have secret meetings.  I even flew up into the clouds, my stomach dropped even though it was a dream.  I often wonder about dreams, their significance in our lives and what they mean.  Its always been so interesting to me.
I found this poster on Positive Posters.com this morning and thought I would share it with you, along with my dream.  Maybe someday we will all eventually fly.  I hope sure so.  Have a great weekend everyone!
PS, if your doing any holiday shopping this weekend, check out these gift guides with a purpose.  Here is one from Veronica all on non-profits you can buy from this season, and another by Lindsay Stetson.  Happy weekend!

I watched this about a week ago on Frank Chimero’s blog, and ever since, I have been thinking about the things it talks about.

Anything I find  from a blog that is taking over my thoughts for over a week needs to be shared.  So check it out.  Gooood stuff.

Christmas Cards!

I know we’re not in December yet, but in my world, the Christmas season starts November 1st.  Yes- its that time of year to be filled with cheer, and of course, send out Christmas cards! There are so many great Christmas card designs I’ve been seeing lately, and I wanted to share with you my finds and where to get them.

These cards are from Tiny Prints.com, designed by Joy Cho from Oh Joy!  Shes a great designer and has tons of cute cards selling at Tiny Prints.  Definitely check them out- TIny Prints also has a ton of other great cards done by other designers, so browsing this site is really fun!

Minted has definitely been getting the blog press lately- and thats because its awesome! WIth tons of well designed Christmas cards throughout the site, you are bound to find one you love.  I loved the idea of doing a Christmas card with your pets as the main subject- soo great!

I am totally in love with the illustrations on these cards from Lagom Design. I stumbled upon their site from the blog Creature Comforts, and instantly took a liking to their stuff.  These are my favorites out of the Christmas Card finds, but there are many others to look at there so browse around and see what you find!  How cute is that reindeer??

Sending out Christmas cards is fun and always brings a little bit of cheer to the person you are sending them to.  Who doesn’t like getting something thats not a bill, credit card offer or advertisement in their mailbox? Getting a physical card in the mail is more rare these days, and I know everyone appreciates the gesture.

Hope you enjoy these!  Have a great Tuesday everyone!

I have been thinking a lot about eating healthy lately. Maybe its because I know a lot of girls on Weight Watchers right now, I also had a conversation with my best friend this morning about the struggles of being a woman and our insecurities about ourselves and our bodies. We can be told we’re beautiful no matter what.. but sometimes thats just not enough. Its difficult living in a world where on one hand obesity is a huge health problem, yet we are also constantly being shown photos of half naked women who have been photoshopped and give us unrealistic expectations of what we as women are supposed to look like.
So I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m going to try and be the healthiest me I can be. That means no more diet coke, (it will seriously give you brain tumors) and much more exercise. Because no matter what size jeans we wear, it takes really believing we are truly beautiful before we can get healthy. It sounds cheesy, but it starts on the inside. I honestly believe that. (And just because you are a size 00 doesn’t mean you are healthy btw.)
But with all this health food talk I thought I’d share a few of my favorite health food blogs. I like them because they are all about being healthy, not being skinny. And don’t get me wrong, being skinny is great, and lets face it- we all want to be skinny. But when that is the sole motivator, its not good. Being skinny shouldn’t be your goal- being healthy should.
These blogs are great and encourage a healthy lifestyle. They promote all natural foods and have tons of vegan, gluten free and organic recipes for great foods.
Your Nutritionista.com- I love this blog. The author is very down to earth about eating healthy and naturally.
Health Food Stalker.com- Yummy, healthy recipes and health food questions answered.
101cookbooks.com- Another blog full of great recipes from the authors recipe journal. She focuses in on vegetarian, natural, whole foods and ingredients in all of her recipes. Just looking at her blog makes me hungry…
Sarahfit.com- A girl who along with video blogging, is always coming up with challenges and fun things you can do in your everyday life to stay healthy. Totally motivating!
PS- I love this poster on eating breakfast (something I need to do!), I don’t know the source, if anyone does, let me know!!

In my blog readings this morning I stumbled upon newcomer graphic designer Emma Robertson and am in love with her self promotion!  I think finding how to brand yourself as a graphic designer is very difficult- but I love the way she pulled it off.  Definitely an inspiration for me!
I have Black Eiffel to thank for this find!

Blanca Gomez

Found a new inspiration.  Blanca Gomez of Cosas Minimas.  She is a graphic designer/illustrator out of Spain.

I am so drawn to how she uses clean simple shapes and colors to create retro vibe.  There is a great interview with her on Grain Edit.  She gives a detailed look into her work process which is pretty cool to read.  I love seeing how other designers go about creating.

Thank you Blanca- I think you just inspired my next painting.
